Overview
SEN students are able to achieve their best when teaching is adapted to help meet their individual needs.
This Work Group is designed to help primary and secondary school teachers gain greater understanding and confidence when teaching maths to SEN students.
The sessions will focus on:
- Evidencing progress of pupils working below the expected levels, focusing on the breaking down of targets to ensure they are meaningful and achievable
- Approaches to learning – barriers to learning for children with an SEN
- Resources and activities – the use of manipulatives to support SEN pupils and help gain a deeper understanding
Tom Brown (Woodland Meed), Richard Wilkins (Manor Green College) and Nina Pearson (Oak Grove College) are leading this Work Group. The three sessions are taking place on:
Session 1 – Tuesday 28 April
Session 2 – Tuesday 2 June
Session 3 – Tuesday 30 June
All sessions are running from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
This is a FREE Work Group for 14 teachers from Sussex schools, with ideally two teachers from seven schools. All participants will be expected to commit to attending all three sessions.
