Headteacher Invitation to Mastery Event – What does teaching for mastery look like in the UK?
VENUE:
St. Paul’s Catholic College,
Jane Murray Way,
Burgess Hill RH15 8GA
DATE:
Friday 1 March
TIME:
09:15 – 13:00
This course is open to Headteachers of schools currently participating in a NCETM Teaching for Mastery Teacher Research Group
We would like to share best practice from schools and school leaders who have adopted the Teaching for Mastery approach with success in their schools. We recognise every school is different, so we will look at the ways schools have adapted the approach to fit their setting and circumstances. We will also discuss how different schools have developed practice from the initial launch to embedding practices aiming for a longer term maturity model to support school improvement priorities.
Specialists from our Primary Mastery Team will be on hand to lead input on:
- Fluency
- Concrete, Pictorial & Abstract
- Variation Theory (Procedural & Conceptual)
- Developing Mathematical Thinking
- Challenge & Support (How to provide Same Day Intervention & opportunities to work at Greater Depth)
There will be the opportunity to look at lesson resources, discuss lesson design features to support monitoring and to see outcomes in pupils’ books. We will also build in time for Q&A.
Lunch and Refreshments will be provided.
The places for this event are funded by the Maths Hub and will allocated on a first come, first served basis.
