LLMEs (Local Leaders of Mathematics Education) are those working beyond their own institution to develop the teaching of maths. All Maths Hubs support their work through networking activity and the exploration of educational research into effective maths teaching and learning.

Cross-Phase and Cross-Cohort Mastery Specialists Network Event

The event is open to our cohort 2, 3 and 4 Mastery Specialists from both primary and secondary

This session will provide an excellent opportunity for networking and sharing best practice. There will be a chance to share favourite and successful ideas for a TRG focus, share any hub or national NCETM news or resources and be briefed about an innovation project on STEM sentences and generalisations that has been underway this year.

We would like to incorporate a ‘2 min’ teach meet style session within the afternoon- so if you would like to present a nugget of good practice – please let me know.

Stem Sentences, Generalisations and Definitions – a Course for Primary Colleagues

This course is open to teachers of schools currently participating in a NCETM Teaching for Mastery Teacher Research Group

Stem Sentences, Generalisations and Definitions: Mathematical language as a structure to support learning and conceptual understanding.

This one-day course, newly developed by the primary mastery specialist team will:

  • Provide a rationale for this aspect of teaching for mastery in mathematics
  • Ensure participants understand the difference between stem sentences, generalisations and definitions
  • Demonstrate the power of stems sentences and generalisations in conceptual understanding and depth for all
  • Give participants the confidence and skills to use language more effectively in their own classrooms and across their schools

Places are strictly limited to 30, and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
