Secondary TfM Work Groups 2018-19
Work Groups in this project will be led by a secondary Mastery Specialist trained by NCETM/Maths Hubs, with experience of implementing a mastery approach in their own school. Each specialist will work with two mathematics departments in developing practice and systems to support teaching for mastery, as well as facilitating the collaborative professional development of two teachers from each of the schools. These two teachers will become ‘Mastery Advocates’ within their own departments where they will begin to work with their own colleagues to embed mastery principles and practices.

Jane Murray Way,
Thursday 6 December
08:30 – 12:00
Places are strictly limited to 25 and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
This course has been designed to give delegates a flavour of the work currently being done with Sussex schools by the Teaching for Mastery Specialists.
The course begins with an observation of a year 7 lesson taught by a Mastery Specialist using some of the principles of teaching for mastery. There will then be an introduction to the main pedagogical features of teaching for mastery and an opportunity to discuss the lesson. We will also look at techniques for collaborative planning.
