FREE WEBINAR: Supporting a Smooth Transition between KS2 and KS3, with Guest Speaker Alison Hopper, MEI.

What does ‘Secondary Ready’ look like post-lockdown?

How can we most effectively work together in 2021 in the best interest of children?

Are you a teacher in KS2 or a maths teacher or department lead in KS3? Are you interested in teaching for mastery and delving deeper into the curriculum implications of the latest lockdown? Would you like to be part of the conversation about how we should prioritise the curriculum in 2021-22 in order to best prepare pupils in upper KS2 for secondary school success? Are you interested in working with teachers in both KS2 and KS3 to focus on pedagogy in mathematics teaching and learning?

If so, sign up to the latest free webinar on offer from the Sussex Maths Hub on Wednesday 17th March at 4pm. We have invited Alison Hopper from MEI along as our guest speaker alongside a panel made up of mastery specialist teachers from our primary and secondary team. Alison Hopper has done extensive work for the NCETM & MEI on transition and leads on the Year 5 – Year 8 programme. MEI offer a wealth of user-friendly resources and Alison will be our expert guide to explore these materials and discuss how you can use them to support planning, teaching and assessment.

Our team have examined the NCETM guidance from 2020 on Shaping the Y7 Curriculum: Building on Year 6 – which we recommend participants might want to dip into as a useful starting point for our discussions. This webinar aims to promote further liaison between KS2 and KS3 teachers on the curriculum and transition to improve continuity and progression from Y5-Y8. We will share findings from our survey of secondary teachers to reveal the core skills and concepts they would value in a new pupil in Year 7 this September. The session will support Year 6 teachers in prioritising the content they deliver in the summer term and support secondary teachers in considering which aspects of their Year 7 programme of study may need to be amended to best meet the needs of their new learners.

Please join us for a lively, informative and topical debate. At the Sussex Maths Hub, we believe collaboration has never been more important.

Don’t delay…book your place now, and then pull up a chair, grab a beverage of choice and get ready to join the conversation!
