Overview

NCETM YR 5-8 Programme:
Progress of maths from primary to secondary school.

Are you a KS2 teacher, KS3 mathematics teacher, ITE or NQT teacher?

Are you concerned about the many changes to the mathematics curriculum in KS2 and KS3?

We are a small workgroup looking at how to mitigate the drop in mathematical ability from primary to secondary school.  We are focussing on the EEF recommendations follow the Ofted “wasted years” report, specifically the use of manipulatives for problem solving.

If you are interested in working collaboratively to dissect different approaches to teaching across the different Key Stages to help provide your students with continuality from primary to secondary school, then please sign up and join us.

Victoria Sims, Assistant Director of Maths at Bexhill Academy, is leading this Work Group. There are four sessions over this academic year, running 4pm – 6pm, on:

Session 1 – Tuesday 21 January

Session 2 – Tuesday 10 March

Session 3 – Tuesday 5 May

Session 4 – Tuesday 16 June

This is a FREE workgroup for 16 teachers from Sussex Schools. All participants will be expected to commit to attending all sessions.
