Sussex Maths Hub is seeking applications for a Reception Assistant Maths Hub Lead, commencing from Summer term 2025/26.
The Assistant Maths Hub Lead for Reception will provide system leadership for Reception mathematics across the Sussex Maths Hub region.
They will lead and quality assure professional development, build local leadership capacity, and contribute to the strategic development of early years mathematics in line with national priorities.
The post holder will work closely with Sussex Maths Hub’s Primary Lead and Maths Hub Lead, contribute to the Maths Hub Leadership and Management Team, and engage in national and regional leadership activity where appropriate.
KEY REPONSIBILITIES
Lead, design and quality assure Reception focused Work Groups in line with Maths Hub and NCETM priorities.
Contribute to strategic planning for early years mathematics, ensuring alignment with hub priorities and identified school needs.
Model high quality professional learning design, facilitation and follow up.
Communicate the vision and offer of the Maths Hub to school and trust leaders where appropriate.
Provide system leadership for Reception mathematics pedagogy, curriculum and professional development across the hub area.
Develop and support Local Leaders of Mathematics Education, including identifying and nurturing future capacity.
Engage with national guidance, research and Maths Hubs Network activity relating to early years mathematics.
Work within agreed quality assurance, evaluation and reporting processes.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
Applicants will need to demonstrate:

Successful experience of leading Maths Hub Work Groups.

Current or recent experience as a reception teacher.

Experience of leadership beyond the classroom, such as subject leadership, phase leadership or system leadership.

Strong knowledge of early years development and Reception mathematics, including curriculum design, pedagogy and progression.

Evidence of leading professional development that has demonstrable impact.

Current engagement with national or regional networks, research or development activity linked to early years mathematics.

A track record of reliability, professionalism and high-quality delivery.

Ability to work collaboratively within agreed leadership structures and strategic direction.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

Experience contributing to research and development activity

Accreditation or prior involvement in Maths Hub leadership pathways, including School Development Lead or equivalent.
