Huge congratulations and thanks to Jenny Field, Torie Fryer, Sarah Moriarty, Sarah Murrell, and Claire Pike for putting together such a powerful and thoughtful piece.
This article, featured in Primary Mathematics (Autumn 2025), highlights how the Sussex Maths Hub's 'Subject Leaders as Researchers' Work Group used classroom-based research to drive meaningful change. Drawing on the EEF’s Putting Evidence to Work guidance, it showed how action research can be both practical and transformative. The examples really do capture the impact of teachers leading inquiry in their own settings and demonstrate the power of evidence-informed subject leadership.
It’s a great read for anyone interested in reflective practice, research-informed improvement, and connecting classroom work with wider school development.
Thanks again to the authors for sharing this so generously. If anyone would like to reach out to them to find out more, please contact us on hello@sussexmathshub.co.uk
